I was just interested in how the chamber to barrel ratios are formulated, im pretty knowledgeable in math and chemistry but I just can't find any info on this and any insight would be appreciated.

The "perfect" c:b ratio depends on your fuel and a lot of other factors. It's measured by volume. Read the above link.
