Will they stop selling PVC and copper to minors because they can make PVC cannons that are way more deadly....I sure hope not...

I don't know of any one who could take a disposable camera and turn it into a tazer...beside you guys of course...I'm not sure if I would attempt it right now...it can be a experience if you screw up...

Oh sure, if the issue gets enough media attention, the nanny-state mentality will kick in to some degree. Just as big-box stores like Walmart do an age check for things like gas treatment and paint thinner....mostly as a hedge against law suites from brain-dead parents who don't know how, or don't want to raise their children.

I get your point about PVC jared but PVC is used for things you really need and old camera flashes aren't
maybe if there are some arrests children stop making it
and yes if you screw up one it can give a shock

When you says kids all I can picture is a three year old running around with a tazer.

Honesty though how many teenagers make tazers from old cameras. How many more know that stores give them away for free? Most are likely to pay the 3-4 bucks to get a hold of one and do it that way. But I guess the you tube video explains all that....

Its just the media over reacting...just think if they went through and announced every one the danger of rubber band wasps...seriously you can shoot an eye out with one of those....dangerous stuff some kid gets a hold of one of those WATCH OUT!!!

I read the most recent story relating to this the other day. The kid was charged with "possession of a weapon, breach of peace and attempted assault".

He wasn't even using it as a tazer, really. The teacher got shocked when he took it off of him; that's probably what caused all the commotion.

Hell, I used to take these things apart probably 5 years ago. Back then everybody thought it was awesome. I don't think the teachers even cared as long as I wasn't screwing around with them in class.

We also made small rubber band-powered guns that could send a lightweight dart made from a toothpick and a straw 150+ feet down a hallway and stick into a door. THOSE were dangerous, not camera flashes.

I recently picked up (at CVS drugstore 48 used disposible) cameras.
With hopes of building something like the instructables video here:

I just told the young clerk at the camera section that my nephews are home schooled and I want to use the parts to get them interested in electronics.

upon taking them apart w/out gloves, pretty simple to do I inevetably was shocked by the little capacitor. It was enough to make my jaw go ummmmrrrr!!!!

you need atleast 6 to make the project and that caused me to decide to hold of on the project...

And maybe create a cane base taser one with the capacitors in the body for adults. It could be lethal though

Hah, I remember doing that... I'd rip apart BIC pens and use the ink cartridge as ammo, that could easily leave a welt if not puncture your skin!

Then I became curious as to what else would fly out and tried using bamboo skewers...

Seems to be in Michigan, but here in IL it's legal for use at home.

Tasers have been a hot topic here in Chicago since we had a few deaths realted to taser use by the police. Which by the way, stunning devices are totally illegal for civilian use in Chicago.

Thanks for clarifying that Blitz, It kind of makes you worry that they can make such a broad law. And how are women in the city for example supposed to defend themselves. If Electric fairly non-lethal is illegal they might as well carry firearms.

BTW I knew a guy who tried to run from a traffic stop so they tased him like six times and he went around blinking all the time for a week so we nick named him "Sparky"

The way I look at it, it's fine as long as you leave them at home (at least don't take it to school). The only reason that the student got in trouble was because when the teacher went to take it away from him, the teacher got shocked. The government is very strict about what goes on in school because of all of the things that have happened in the past. (Columbine, Virginia Tech. Etc.)

MrCrowley, you and I belong to another forum that has strick rules about parrots, yes? I think Spudfiles would only have half the members and post if it was run like that one. Shooooo, that alot of emotions to go through in one breath!
