I got one of these:

i need it to fit in a 3/8" chuck...any ideas?

Flats would be nice but be careful. If the flats aren't exactly right the bit will be off center. This type of bit will be very unhappy if it isn't centered perfectly in the chuck.rp181 wrote:yes, cut the end off, but also grind 3 or 6 flat sides, it holds better.

Which do you have? A 1/2" or a 3/8"? Or did you put a 1/2" chuck on a drill motor designed for a 3/8"?jrrdw wrote:Why not get a 1/2" chuck? I've got one on my 3/8ths drill, it's a cheezy craftsman, works great.

I put a 1/2" chuck on a 3/8ths drill. Square shank, your right, it still wont grab it right because it's got 3 jaws not 4. Good catch Willard. I don't know if any one makes a 4 jaw chuck for a eletric drill.willarddaniels wrote:Which do you have? A 1/2" or a 3/8"? The 1/2" chuck won't make a difference with this bit, it still won't grab the shaft evenly, if you are suggesting using the larger chuck.
