Hi,
Occasionally there is mention of a full auto spud gun. Mostly, just as a dream of the future, sometimes also as an unfinished or failed project.
I have tried a search .. nothing immediately apparent came up.
- Does any of you have a homemade, working full auto gun?
- Is any of you getting close to have one?
- Are there any general design ideas around? I remember seeming a patent application for a full auto paintball gun, but are there others?
I had an idea myself until I got more recent experience with other designs. Now, I can see that it will be too difficult to get it to work..
My next idea, which I am researching now, is something like a hybrid, with the fuel/air mixing taking place downstream of the main exit valve.

State of the full auto spudgun?
There are no automatic spudguns.
The only automatics are for spherical ammo types.
Automated spud launching if it happens is likely to be somewhat like a manual loading set up using pneumatic cylinders actuated in order.

Auto cannon /= auto spudgun
Clide has made a short burst auto golfball cannon but it would be incapable of doing the same with spuds.

I think that the terms Auto and Semi-Auto are becoming a bit confused.
Semi-Auto: Will complete a full shooting cycle (firing, reloading) with just one trigger.
Auto: Will complete multiple cycles with constant activation until stopped manually.
I dont know why, but Ive always felt using a sprinkler valve quickly is a sort of cheating.
I suppose to me it doesnt feel techy enough to be merited.
No offence or anything, just a personal view.

You should read my 35 bar repeater thread.
It is a basis for further exploration and could be adapted for full auto with the use of a pneumatic ram recocking the hammer, using the exhaust from the barrel to power it.
Is that techy enough?

I think it's safe to assume that someone mentioning auto cannons in this thread is not referring to military hardware.

I made the Wookie gun, it kind of worked…
I’ve had… 2-4 prototypes that’ll cycle automatically.
Currently working on the Valkyrie project, which should produce several machine guns and auto-cannons.
I have begun work on a cal .84 (3/4” SCH40 PVC) auto-shotgun; the prototype for it worked, so I hope to have something to show when it’s all said and done.
Hummm… just thought of something, would y’all like me to post my prototypes, or just hold off till I get something really cool?

Post them, everyone can see them and help you improve on the final design.Hummm… just thought of something, would y’all like me to post my prototypes, or just hold off till I get something really cool?

I wonder how many of them are still intact…pat123 wrote:Post them, everyone can see them and help you improve on the final design.Hummm… just thought of something, would y’all like me to post my prototypes, or just hold off till I get something really cool?
Okay, be on the look out for ‘em sometime in the next few days.
Hi,
OK when saying a full auto spudgun, I did mean a full auto home-made cannon, no solid explosives, and shooting any ammo. Hold the trigger to keep firing.
I would love to see those prototypes of yours, Judgment. You can always tell which details are perfect as-is, and which other still need some work. There will always be something left to be desired anyway .. at least the first several years of experimenting.

My Full auto Cannon is 55-100 PSI 10 Shot Auto Loading Electro Pneumatic. It is built to shoot Nerf Rockets. It has an instant Charge Feature. its Rate of fire is 3-4 Shots per second.dongfang wrote:Hi,

You load what ever you want to shoot in a 7" long PVC shell.
