Has anyone ever built an air compressor out of PVC?

what would be the point and purpose of making a pvc compresser over buying a metal one? the pvc can only safely go to 80 psi where as the metal can probably go to 135-150. I mean i guess as a fun creation someone may do it, but its just not practical and actually if god forbid the sensor malfunctioned from an electrical surge or god knows what, the motor kept going and over pressurized, its over for all bystanders.

It was just an idea, I figured, since the compressor would be made of the same matrial as the spudgun, it would compress the gun to the right pressure.

are you sure you know how an air compressor works? an air compressor will compress air until it hits a pressure switch (usually 130-150 psi). The material that the compressor is made of has nothing to do with the accuracy of pressurized air, that is determined by the pressure switch, regulator and gauge setup

There are people that make expansion chambers from pvc though. That's a good way to have more available air storage space if you have the parts.

yeah i did that with an old propane tank (the big tall ones) for a gas stove, took forever for my compressor to fill up but it holds like 40-50 gallons of air!

air compressors can get really hot! that could harm the pvc. It would be neat if someone made a spudgun chamber or expansion chamber with a keg.

It's not hot enough to do significant damage to the PVC. But many times it can get expensive to build those chambers depending on the design.
