gauges

I've seen several cheap gauges with 'acethylene' or 'CO2' written on them.. Is it ok to use them with air ?

I don't see why not, I believe that it saying acetylene just means that its rated and intended for that use.

Mabye the threads are different for safety reasons (or rated for it), but other than that...I don't see why not. Pressure is pressure.

acctually I've already bought it and I managed to find a fitting that allowed me to connect the gauge. The fitting was a part of an old water tap that I found in my basement... life would be much easier if there was only one type of threads

Look at the gauge on your pic:
40 bar acetylene?!
Thats sick.....

It may be some sort of rating that tells that you can use it for that specific gas (I believe some sorts of gases have additional security restrictions and thus the gauges should stand up for that) and if the threads are threads you can fit, your fine.


Scroll up to the specs, and past them into a translator (or just read em when if you can speak PL, it says:

Characteristics:

* Pressure: 0-40 bar
* Thread: M12/1.5
* Application: acetylene

Even meters made for measuring water pressure can do their job on gas pressure. I've used such one on a fuel meter and it works just fine.

I am native speaker of polish so I have no problems with understanding it

this gauge is a spare part for acetylene regulator I was lucky that I've found it - most shops with pneumatic equipment have very high prices I've seen sites that sell QEVs for as much as 3 times the price I payed for mine... Do I have to tell you that they are exactly the same types/models of QEVs ? It's exactly the same with gauges

ohh one more thing - two weeks ago I had to buy a 1/2" ballvalve so I went to the plumbing shop and the guy wanted 25 PLN for it.... normally BVs in this size cost about 6 PLN - when I asked him why it was so expensive the guy told me 'the valve is special becasue it has removable handle'
