Has anyone ever heard of a jiang dong engine? we were in a tractor supply co the other day,and saw a minibike with a 6.5 horsepower jiang dong engine. The minibike also looked like the welds were done by a blind man with a coat hanger. very crude. we didn't buy it for those reasons,and the fact that there was a 60 day waranty,but only on the sparkplug.the .has anyone ever heard of jiang dong ? are they cheap honda imitations that will fail on you,or are they okay engines quality-wise?

Yea, i'd say it's a Honda knock off, or a Subaru Robin copy. Soon everyone will be makeing copies because Honda's patend time limit is up, company's patend's can only be held for a certin amount of time, 20 years at first then renew for 17. Don't quote me on the numbers.
they look like shit to me. just being honest. plus you said the welds are crappy, i wouldnt risk it, you don't want a broken weld when you're speeding through the woods, you'd be picking pine cones outta your ass for days. i don't trust chinese junk when it comes to expensive equipment/parts, just go with a name brand minibike with a good, well known engine.

yeah,we were not going to buy it and we didn't because of all those things in combination with the engine being a total cheap peice of crap.I finished my homebuilt one yesterday,and It works awsome.

the engine is a 4 hp kolher,built in 1979,sealed in plastic from the factory until a month ago. I put oil in it,added gas,and It starts first pull. 60 mph on a 4 horse minibike!!!! it's crazy fun!!! How exactly do I make it street legal?? please explain it to me in detail, because I reallly want to. thanks
