Ya, ball valves are better but they don't look cool and are kind of awkward to operate. They also cost more.

1/4" Ball Valve vs. Blow Gun w\ 1/4" Inlet

Ball Valve:
- Awkward
- Expensive
- Looks less-cool :D
+More Flow

Blow Gun:
- Less Flow
+Cheap ($5)
+Cool looking
+Easy use
- Accidently Triggerable

I like blowguns better, but ball valves are a little faster to acuate, overall I'd say get a blowgun.

I wish people would stop needing a better signature!

The flow out the top of the diaphram dosn't matter, the sprinkler valve will operate as fast no matter which you use. Blowguns are more convenient to use, so go with the blowgun.
Forever dreaming...
