i got this valve from work and i hooked it up to 2 9 volt batteries but it does nothing..

on the side it says 120 v watts 5.3

so i know 120 volts is standard for wall sockets but i didnt know if the 5.3 volts mattered or not.

here is a picture any help is apreciated.

You said it yourself. Unless you have a way of getting two 9V batteries to add up to 120V :? I believe the actual solenoid operates on DC anyway, which would mean the valve has a built in rectifier. In this case, it should run at its rated voltage whether you input DC or AC.

You could always use an inverter to convert 12VDC to 120VAC.

That means it is actuated by 120 VAC and draws 5.3 watts of power when actuated.

Instead of batteries, try carefully actuating it with 120 VAC wall power.
