How does this semi-auto gun work?

is a spring necessary because i plan to have a stick mag like in the video slightly off vertical or a hopper

It is possible that the feeding mechanism is just a tee with the exhaust port of the QEV on one side, the barrel opposite the QEV, and the magazine perpendicular to the barrel and QEV. (I'm not sure how well I explained that)
That was how I got my first bbmg to work, if you just let a little bit of air go through, it will fire a short burst, but if you let a constant stream of air through, it will be fully automatic.

That's what you would get with a QEV, since it is only a short burst of air.

but if he used a bolt he could add a much better magazine than a ~40 cm long vertical tube... so IMO the guy uses an o-ring setup

a compression fitting is not the best idea here becasue most likely it won't let BBs through... (its ID is lower than the ID of the tube)

its a 6mm compression T, and the tube is 6mm... im only using the structure then epoxy it.

i say 9/32" instead of what ever the metric is beacuse that is how small tube is sold in aus

EDIT: 6mm fittings can take 6mm brass tube through it

yeah I know it but still it has to be uncomfortable to use fractions.. so I am not criticizing you I just think that imperial sucks

Me too:) I wonder what the efficiency is as he is using an air compressor. What I dont like though is that the trigger pull (speed) varies the opening time of the valve. This makes it kinda inconsistent. But cool concept anyways.

Yep.

Personally, I always wanted to use airgun pellets as ammunition, with this design you're limited to spherical ammunition only and this is why I never went with it.

Not really, but if used at normal compressor pressures instead of 40 psi it would certainly be more impressive.
