Which one is better? From all the stuff ive seen, they shoot about the same rate, but the cloud is just easier to build.

why is cloud better? What advantage does it have over the vortex performance-wise or vise-versa?

People who know everything can't learn anything... remember that

Cloud, more reliable (less jams), easy to make, easy to use

Vortex, harder to use, harder to make, jams

does one shoot harder or farther than the other?

Vortex throws the BB's with a centrifical force while Clouds blow them out with air pressure... I'm not exactly sure which is stronger...

You can make a cloud very cheaply and very fast, why even bother making a Vortex that jams?

i think it said on spud wiki that clouds perform the same if not a little better than vortex.

i want to make a cloud and see how impressive they are first hand.

i think abs would be better for clouds because that pipe seems more impact resistant so that metal bbs would be less likely to fracture the chamber.

NOOOOOOOOOOOO, how do you think the gun shoots?

Air pressure.....

Air pressure + ABS = leaks & gimps

PVC doesn't fracture from metal BB's floating around in it the BB's don't hit the inside of the pvc that much.... The air rushes into the chamber from the bottom, agitating the BB's and being forced out of the exit (brakeline), while suckings BB's behind and in-front of it....

I don't reccomend heavy metal BB's in clouds either because it won't work right, the air has to be able to push them out, so either alluminum metal airsoft BB's or plastic airsoft BB's

I do think that Vortex's might be able to shoot heavier BB's because they use the centrifical force to get the BB's out while Clouds rely on airpower...

I still say make a cloud, it's easy, economical, and fun.

Here's a tutorial: http://www.bcvids.com//dload.php?action=file&file_id=13

you can buy for $30m just immagine how much they cost to make (almost nothing)

very little pressure my man. there is an abs cloud on this site and looks decent. look it up.

and i think you just dissed your combustion.

i'll use plastic bbs if i make one tho. and thanx for the tutorial.

My combustion isn't used for a pneumatic gun...

BBMG's are pneumatic and they run at 130psi, which isn't very little pressure...

Combustions are known to spike to 75 psi, but because my chamber has a large surface area it is perfectly fine, I know how physics works...

Sustained 130 psi in a BBMG will eventually cause ABS to tear open, possibly severing someone open, just be safe and use NSF-PW PVC... It may cost a little more, and weigh a lot more, but it's worth not having to re-make a broken ABS gun.

ABS doesn't work great in combustions either... my ABS gun had a hole burnt %100 through the End Cap Adapter where my lantern ignighter is... all I had to do was fill it with ABS glue, but it still caused me to maintain it.

but when combustion occurs pressure is obviously created. and according to you, leaks would occur.

i thought you liked abs, you posted that awhile ago. but i guess uve had a change of heart. just look at the abs cloud gun and tell me what u think.

130 psi? but air is constantly leaking out, that doesn't make sense, but i guess if you had a big compressor dumping alot of air and plus these guns have really small barrels i might take your word for it.

i only have a 2 gallon 125psi compressor.

and i am pretty well aware that pvc is superior, but an abs cloud was built and posted on this forum(& i think its coaxial).

Some people prefer vortex's because they drain less air, so you can shoot for longer and it works for people with small compressors. But they are also more complicated, jam more, and the vortex block also needs to be remade after a while.

does anyone have actual reports of cloud strafers shooting metal bbs? cuz if they cant, its a major downfall. also, what is the fps for airsoft bbs in both?

I have a compressor that does about 12 SCFM at 100psi... that's about 4x more air flow than little compressors and about 2x more than the average big ones that do 6.6 SCFM at 90psi

My compessor is also like 200 gallons, and it's got a big ass belt driver motor... lol :D

I sure love ABS in combustion guns, they can withstand combustion fine, but mine happened to leak after hundreds and hundreds of shots, but it was easily fixed with some ABS glue... I just don't have enough faith in ABS for any sustained pneumatic work.... I know that the pressure on a cloud isn't a lot (probably only 30psi that gets spread onto the ABS) but if their was a possible jam in the brakeline (which has happened), ABS is very likely to explode while, PVC would probably hold the pressure until the brakeline blows or the jam is cleared...

demilus, I use metal BB's in mine, and they work just fine. Only problem occurs when it's near empty, the BB's tend to not want to shoot out.
