I think it is great that you have shown initiative and creativity building your own pump. :)

But;

I am sorry to tell you this. :(

I have serious problems with using plastic as the pump cylinder.

Using your pump generates heat from friction and also from compressing the air.

Heat WILL soften the plastic, possibly causing it to blow out.

You could and likely will be injured if that happens. :cry:

I must in good conscience recommend that you stop using your pump.

If you continue to use it, that is your choice.

It will be difficult to find a copper pipe with the same i/d for use with his plunger.
You can tell how awesome a cannon is by the pressure used.

if i were you i wouldn't use that pump again, because the PVC looks very old (sunlight causes it to deteriorate as does the cold) and when PVC bursts, it shatters into shrapnel, so a PVC pump isn;t such a good idea :wink:

I realize that material availability is a concern for many outside of North America.

A very good alternative would be seamless tubing in either steel, stainless steal, or aluminum.

Are these kinds of materials simply unavailable, or are they strictly controlled in Israel?

Do they have welding and machine shops in Israel? (Check near a Kibbutz, they would need to repair farm machinery.)They should be able to procure such materials.

are you palestinian or isreali ?

I know it's not the most political correct thing to write but I imagine what would the IDF do if they see a palestinian carrying something that looks like a 'homemade launcher' :wink:

I am sure that you can buy copper and malleable iron pipes and fittings in isreal - It's not a 3rd world country... you just have to look for them
