how to best paint fittings?

Hey all, I'm currently working on my unregulated BBMG, and its all pipe nipples, tees elbows, all metal basically.

I've never painted metal, so was wondering if anyone had some good tips?

I was thinking a primer coat, then maybe use rustoleum, but anyone have opinions?

i think krylon fusion (spray paint) works on metal, its used for airsoft, paintball etc.

Rustoleum is meant for metal, so I guess that it would be a pretty good choice.

rustolium works great on metal, krylon is another good paint but fusion is meant for plastics. both have really good flat/cammo colors. I have used plastikote also and it works well for the price.

You can use truck bed liner spray paint.. I used it on the chamber on my gun and it is great..That stuff will stick to anything even without primer..Just make sure the surface is clean..Its textured so I don't know if thats what you are after.. I think the stuff is great..The only thing is its like $8.00 or $9.00 per can..The brushable stuff is like $40.00 a gallon..I think you can do the whole gun with 1 or 2 cans of spray paint.

Rustoleum is like primer and paint in the same can, so you can apply it right on the metal.

Also keep in mind the age old rule... the key is not in the paint, but in the prep. Get rid of any rust or crud with a wire brush or wheel, or some sandpaper. Then use some kind of lint free cloth or paper towel and wipe it down good with solvent of some kind. Naptha, laquer thinner, rubbing alcohol... just about anything will work. You probably already have something useful sitting around at home. Just make sure it's completely dry before you spray.

Also, it helps if the first coat is sprayed fairly lightly, then let it "tack up" a bit, and you can go heavier on the next couple coats. This can help prevent runs or drips... good luck.

I think the difference between paint and bed liner is strength..Paint you can scrape off with just a bump off of somthing or droping it..Bed liner paint is made to hold up to heavy wear and abuse. Im not sure if thats what you want.. Paint is good also..Im sorry, I think cannons should not look pretty. I think they should be functional and strong,and look mean. :cwm21: :salute:

Plastikote is good but is hard to find around here.
