Initial Lathe Operation
Indeed, you were correct jrrdw...thanks for the help. While unnecessarily inside of the headstock, I applied some white lithium grease to the gears, which apparently makes the machine run quieter. At full blast on high (approximately 2500 RPM), it isn't too loud at all (a bit quieter than a wet-dry vacuum). I'm not going to bolt it down to this bench, but once I build a nice small bench for it (36"x24"), I'll take some pictures of the finished product and some things that I do. Again, thanks for your help.

I don't think there is a fix, just move the chuck when you change gears.
