People always talk about the risk of frozen up valves.
I've dumped a sh*t load of unregged CO2 through my pressure washer handle and I haven;t had that problem yet.


My guess is...with the absence of water....nothing can freeze up!
And it hasn;t so far.
The outside freezes over, yes, but if the CO2 were to " freeze" i'd be very surprised.Solid CO2 chunks flying around...that would be something...

I did not use any plummers tape.I used a rubber washer for the adapter to seal against.
A hydraulic 1/2-1/4" reducer is perfect for such a use.
It holds the washer in place and connects the adapter to the PW handle without a problem.
When set up like that, I don't see why a pinvalve would matter..

because you have to have something pushing against the pin on the tank to open it when you screw it in or you will not get any co2 to flow out.
when i used to use co2 in paintball my marker would sometimes freeze up when i would shoot to fast, so yes it can freeze up a valve.
a 12 gram does not contain enough liquid co2 to freeze up a valve but larger tanks do.

I believe what people mean by "freeze up" is that the valve will jam due to the very low temperature and differential thermal contraction of the various parts of the valve. (As grumpy said.)

Rapid depresurization from a CO2 tank will indeed create "Solid CO2 chunks". Indeed, you can buy an adaptor for a CO2 tank that will produce dry ice.

If you were to use a rubber hose between the tank and the gun then the hose will get brittle and have very little strength when it is that cold.
