epoxy air chamber

can i just make a hole on the air chamber and put the pressure gauge in then epoxy it in place?

Yeah that's usually what I do. I don't like wasting my time with taps and dies so I just drill a smaller hole and screw it in to cut threads or drill a hole that's too big and put a buttload of epoxy on.

howabout you just tap the hole? if you just epoxy it it might eventually blow out. you can probably even tap it with the gauge and just put lots of teflon tape on it. so if you dont have a tap for it then i would suggest tapping it with the gauge then epoxying it

You can drill a hole though a fitting and thread in a gauge. But do not just epoxy it in without threading it or it will more than likely shoot out at you with a vengeance. My personal recommendation would be to plumb it in to fitting that is designed for it. Like on my cannon.

If you do decide to “drill and thread” drill the hole though a fitting and in to the pipe and drill the hole twice the NPT size of you gauge. For example if your gauge is 1/4” NPT drill a 1/2” hole.

from what I heard from a plumber I know, you are actually not really supposed to tap into pvc or plastic in general. He said the threads will be very weak and that if you do you should put a bolt or fitting on the other side to help hold it in place.

Its been proven that you can safely thread or tap fitting into PVC but you should only do it though a fitting and the pipe wall for maximum martial to thread and its always good to epoxy or my preference JB Weld the fitting as well. But I still plumb all of my cannons.
