Frankrede's Mauler Cannon

This is my Mauler cannon, featuring Sgort's Mauler valve.
This valve is amazing and is well made. Quite simply, it makes all of my previous piston cannons look like sh*t when it comes to performance and craftsmanship.
Barrel:1 1/2" sdr-21 sleeved with 2" sch-80
Chamber: 4"
Valve: Sgorts Mauler valve with 2" porting
Favorite Ammo:Golfballs with golf tee epoxied on back for stabilation

Steel Bike peg filled with caulk shot through two stop signs placed back to back and destroyed a piece of 3/4" plywood behind it.

Looks good to me. I'd personally want something to tie the chamber and barrel together near the front to prevent recoil playing silly buggers with it, but I suppose will probably be fine.

And congrats on 3000 posts, whenever you managed that - but I'm coming to get you!!!

With the way that I used a 4" elbow instead of a 2" I prevented most barrel flex. It is quite sturdy, especially with its relatively short length.
But a support could come in handy on other barrels.

So does sgort make these valves and sell them? I was under the impression that he was a combustion guy.

Yea he sells them via his website, he also does combustion's yes.

That sucker looks all business. The Mauler valve makes building a big cannon an almost plug and play adventure. That damage pic is self-evidence of its power.

I would brace the barrel to the chamber or maybe replace the screw connector on the breech with a cam-lock setup. Will make transport weight and storage a little easier.

Edit: I hadn't heard of cementing tees to a golfball as a "tail" before now... beautiful idea!

Doesnt triggering the ballvalve throw off your aim? You could also go with a QEV + blowgun to pilot this beauty.

I'd make a barrel support thingy if I were you.
I can already see that one piece of pipe between the elbow and the T fail.
The more powerful the cannon, the more recoil you get. And this one is quite powerful.

The ball valve is pretty easy to throw, I ran it through a drill so it turns with little effort.
And the piece between valve and chamber is sch-40 steel, I would like to hope it wouldn't break.

I doubt very seriously your new barrel will see the same fate your old one did... 8)

Very nice, with an air chamber that big i bet that packs a wallop. I would HIGHLY recomend some sort of brace in between your barrel and air chamber, i managed to crack my Mauler with recoil forces... so i would be carefull to put in plenty of support as your valve is holding the wieght of that large air chamber too.
