I just went to a thrift store to to look for random junk I might be able to use and I found what looked sort of like qev, it has a solenoid but the solenoid directly moves the piston it doesn't release any air other than through the barrel. I couldn't figure out how to pneumatically mod it so i just made a simple trigger mechanism with a 9v battery.
Does anyone know what sort of valve this is it seams like a small sprinkler valve sort of thing. And would be be any good in a potato gun?
my new valve

I think they can be modified pneumatically, I think BriantheBrain did.
They will work, I think they're rated to about 300psi also. But it looks 1/2" to me, so I wouldn't use it on a barrel larger then 3/4". It'd be a good BB gun plinker.

Hmm, so the actual sealer is that rod that just pushes on the exhaust opening and then gets pulled back by the solenoid on order to open?
It is triggered mechanically, not pneumatically and thus it will take some extra effort to mod it pneumatically, as you will need to construct a pneumatic ram to pull the thing back.
You could also replace the solenoid by a mechanical system attached to the trigger so that triggering the gun directly pulls the plug.

I agree, a pilot chamber would have to be built as well. Does it have a manufacture name on it?psycix wrote:Hmm, so the actual sealer is that rod that just pushes on the exhaust opening and then gets pulled back by the solenoid on order to open?

Interesting.
Did you add some rubber to make a diaphragm or attach a pneumatic ram?
