I didn't know Fastenal was a hardware store. I'll have to check it out. But still, they don't have anything rated over 150 psi. What type and size should I get? I might use a ½ inch copper barrel or ¾ inch max.

frankrede, when you say you took yours to 600 psi, were you talking about a 150 psi QEV?

Thanks guys. Sorry for the dumb questions but I'm trying to learn.

Been thanked: 1 time

I have pressure tested them to 700-800 psi.
They leak, they do not have catastrophic failures like PVC.

The piston kind of QEV, more common in the UK has been repeatedly taken over 600psi and shown no signs of damage.

The best excuse for buying things like this is saying it's for an art project. People usually don't question further than that, and if they do you can fabricate something completely random.

Most hardware stores don't carry QEV's in my experience, better to phone up before you go if you are going somewhere other than Fastenal

The hardware stores I know don't have any QEVs. They don't even know what they are!

I'll have to try Fastenal. When I look at their catalogue though, they don't seem to have threaded ¾" QEVs. It stops at ½" (aluminum only). They seem to have only tube x tube ¾" ones. I sure am not going to weld anything.

This might be a stupid question to ask but what about paintball gun stores? Do they have any QEVs? What about the tanks they use? Can they be easily modified to increase pressure with air? Let's say at 200+ psi? What's their usual pressure rating?

Can you fire anything else than paint in those guns?
