Make it lighter. Now. Aka, Carboard tubes and Balsa wood.
its speed will be increased to the point in which you will be amazed..... Just be sure to keep the nose heavy, so it doesnt spin out of control.

50 Estes engines in a flash pan is nothing. I have seen a rocket that had something close to the equivalent of a a J engine made up entirely of Cs...
As for improvements, use lighter wheels, a lighter tube, and bigger better, and more engines. Or make your own, like I am doing. It's not going to be cheaper, due to all of the supplies it requires, but I can make rocket fuel for about $1/lb (boy is it fun just burning it). You can pm me for details if you are interested.
On a similar subject, I used to be a total rocket head, so I can answer most if not all of your questions if you have any.
