You can't have a proper metal fetish until you can tell metals apart by smell.

The worrying thing is that I can tell metals apart by smell - I can tell the difference between Aluminium, Steel, Stainless steel, chromed steel, zinc-dipped steel, copper, brass, zinc, magnesium and lead by nothing more than smelling them. I can be blindfolded - don't even have to touch them.

It's a great ability for freaking people out if they ask me what something is made from.

It might be... if it wasn't something I could just DO. It's little different to how you can tell songs apart by how they sound - you don't need to see the filename.

I can tell metals apart by how they smell. I just happen to have abnormally keen senses compared to most people, and that lets me do that kind of thing.

The only thing that cat is scared of is starvation, which he is convinced sets in five seconds after his last meal...
Our apartment is set up a little oddly; we're on the back of the building, but our door is at the front, with a hallway between the living room and the stairs.

You might have missed my repeater efforts, but putting a spring behind your piston is a waste if you don;t also drill a tiny equilising hole through the edge ( outside of the seat area!!)

This will make it close when the trigger is released, trapping the rest of previously wasted air inside the chamber.

This is a very easy mod, but it will make your cannon capable of multiple shots, and the shots themselves will be quieter because the chamber doesn't empty after the ammo has long left the barrel.

You'll up efficienty without sacrificing results..

Actually the spring is for a different reason; The BV safety is good, but if the QEV pilots accidentally somehow, the barrel behind the BV will pressurize, so the QEV piston will not reset by itself, and when I open the BV, the chamber will exhaust. The spring would reseat the piston lightly, so when I open the safety BV, only the small section of the barrel behind it will exhaust before the piston is completely sealed.

I do have some thoughts on a semi-auto loading mechanism. But that's for later.

Anyway, I did get one shot off today, but only at ~120psi. It planted a .490 lead shot into a lawn timber, just slightly shallower than flush.

Dunno, couldn't get it out. I would imagine it did, somewhat. The shots I took with it when it was a BV gun distorted pretty heavily.

Not quite. I don't encounter titanium enough to know what it smells like, and also, metals don't have a very strong smell - they're distinctive, but faint. Even with my unusually sensitive nose, I still need to get right up close.

I have been thinking recently about where I could get a fridge compressor for cheap, and mini fridges are only about 100$, but would the compressor be of equal strength? because I very much doubt it would be the exact same mech. in a mini fridge...
