accurately measuring dimensions of a gun from a picture?

Yes, I wasn't being too serious...

Another possibility is to go old school and scale the print of the photo to a standard scaling (like 1:5) and use a Architect's or Engineer's scale.

(Old guy comment: BTW, that is a scale not a ruler. A ruler is for drawing straight lines, a scale is for measuring things. You should never measure with a ruler and you should never draw straight lines with a scale.)

ok- maybe i'll try JSR's method and then jimmy101's method.

Jimmy- just out of curiousity- why should you always use a scale to measure, and never draw lines with it? Is there a reason? Just curious
