i put this together real quick on paint and was wonderin if it would work. i would use davidvainis burst disk design for the cartridge.

light blue: end cap with spring attached. take it off to reload
zig zag thingy: spring
dark blue: davidvainis burst disk design
yellow: housing
brown: trigger
red: sealing face to keep air goin down barrel instead of into housing
green: barrel
gray: obviously projectile

I'm not exactly sure HOW this would work. You say it's using a preloaded cartridge design, but I'm not sure how you're going to use it. To me it looks more like a piston that compresses the air in the housing to shoot ammo out of the green. Unless this is what you're going for, and you are only using to preloaded cartridge as an ammo reservoir. In which case, you pull the trigger, take the ammo out of the cartridge, and load it in the barrel. Amirite?

eh no i forgot to say a few things. mainly this would be something i would strap under the barrel of another gun. and the end of the barrel is sharp to pierce the layers of foil. i load the charged cartridge into the housing through the back. the spring puts pressure on the cartridge and when the trigger is pulled the cartridge flies froward hitting the end of the barrel and breaking the disk. the air would then propel the ammo out.

its also slightly out of proportion now that i look back and i think it would mainly be used for larger caliber items like nerf rockets

Ohhhhh, how did I not think of that.

I've been bouncing around with preloaded cartridges for some time now and I should've figured out that the end was aluminum foil. oops.
