schrader valve cores

These are the two variations of valve core I've encountered since I started playing with schraders, any other types out there?

i've only seen the right hand type... there can't be too many other variations... can there!?!?!?

No diea, that's why I'm asking. Reason being that the left type has an exposed spring and can therefore easily be modded to crack open at low psi.

maybe just make your own core? it should be too hard, just a bit fiddly.

i just use check valves because they crack open at low pressures so i core my schraders.

We should make somthing called the house of shraders. That's a different one you have gippeto.

I've been looking for them in stores for quite some time now, to no avail.

It would only take a second with some side cutters, and the spring would be no more.

I just got off the phone, although they are no longer a stocking item at most stores, they are still available, I've some on the way from a local tire shop.

Aircraft Spruce has a schrader valve core 2300hv which is similar.(but rated to 2000psi.)

If you think I might be calling my local A.M.E. next, you're probably right.

Haven't the foggiest, I pick up inner tubes from the street, heaven knows where that came from

Our local roadhouse/service station has them. Maybe you should try there? I have dozens of those cores.

Believe me, as an ardent supporter of low cracking pressures I've checked everywhere locally.

I've seen a few of the ones Gippeto posted, with the long spring. Some of the older trailers they pulled out of the back lot at my old employer had those. I think they've been done away with in favor of the smaller type.

The one JSM posted, with the external spring wrapped around the button, I have never seen before. They certainly can't be common. Leaving the spring exposed to the outside seems like a really bad design to me.

The biggest variation I usually see is the length of the button and the color of the seal.

The only ones I've seen currently in use on passenger or truck tires are the type with the internal spring. Some of the big mining equipment tires I've hauled have used larger types of valves that allow more airflow, but then again, they use an on-board inflation system most of the time.
