Ok, the old rear axle was made out of 1/2 inch pvc  But now it is made out of 1 1/2 inch PVC, which holds great! even holds my friends weight(180 lbs). The cage was just bolted on to, but it is just to look good, not to work.

PVC when used right can be rather strong.

I also wonder, how is the axle connected to the frame?
Ball bearings or just a hole it goes through?

I attached it with these, dont know what they are called though. They are like a half circle, with a small square of metal at the ends to screw them in. I hope you know what i am talking about. Oh, and the gold things are screws. New pics will be up soon. And i do not have a live axle either.

Looks like a pipe mount.

I can't even begin to imagine why you chose PVC pipe for an axle. How are you attaching wheel to the setup you have there?

Why not use some steel pipe, or steel rod or a real go kart axle?

Someone correct me if I'm wrong but it looks like its not really a PVC axle. Its PVC pipe for the rear wheels to connect to and the single drive wheel attaches to but it mounted on its own bearings and metal axle.

Well, he says it used to be a 1/2" pvc... Sure makes it sound like it's the real axle.

Have to see some better pictures of the "axle" to know for sure.

It is NOT a real axle, orpackrat was right, i have a single drive wheel, i have some endcaps bolted onto the pipe, and i have the wheels bolted to the endcaps. both wheels spin independently. And The pvc is really strong. I did the same thing with the 1/2 inch pvc, but that was a bad choice.

BTW, i already have the pics, i just have to upload them tomorrow.

I got the new batteries today. 2 12 volt, 12 Ah sealed lead acid batteries for FREE. I offered to pay him, but he said no and just gave them to me :D . One is a little banged up so i will wait for my dad to see if it is ok to use, but the other one is fine. I will be going out tomorrow morning for some more offroading. Should be fun, and here are some new pics, btw, as you will see, it is quite small. And i have added proper steering and a steering wheel to. I will upload pics of that tomorrow.
