FREE key switches

Hey everyone, I'm sure I don't have to tell you that having a key operated solenoid or ignition on your spud gun is perhaps the coolest thing ever, and also could act as a great safety measure.

If key switches aren't your thing, how about a big red button? vandal proof or EXPLOSION PROOF?

a while back I found this site http://www.apem.com/

They give out and ship free samples of their products.

All you have to do is find the particular switch you want, copy down the specific code number for all the specifications (PDF file will have a list) then put that into a sample request form.

Here's the switch I got, it has two functions, one maintained (you turn one way, it stays there) and one momentary (you turn it the other way and it snaps back when you let go) perfect for my disposable camera ignitions, turn and let till it charges, then flip it the other way to release it.

When you find a site that samples parts, keep it to yourself. Many people abuse this, and some have been known to change there sample policy due to one person (ehm...fairchild ehm...)

I have no idea what all the different lock functions do, so I just chose the first one.

Just went with the JD7509OA126, hopefully they'll send it. I said my company was SPUDNZ haha...sounds legit enough.

well Crowley, just look at the diagram, 3 position means that there are 3 possible positions, likely off, function 1 function 2, then if you look again at the diagram, there will be a legend saying what type of position it is, like momentary or maintained, (circle box or triangle, il have a look again,) I can find what kind you want if you tell me what you're looking for...

Ah yeah just realised that before. The example code happened to be the type of keyswitch I wanted anyway.

Actually, I used a key switch as the power control for a small "add-on" for HEAL which was a circuit that determined by checking for human skin resistance between various points whether the grip was being held and whether the trigger was being touched - at which point, it then turned on electronic gizmos like a under slung torch for the first cases, and a laser module in the second (of course either feature could be disabled independently).
And yes, I had been watching "The Terminator" at the time when I thought of it: "Touch the trigger, the beam comes on; you put the red dot where you want the bullet to go."

Eventually, it got removed again, although I'm considering resurrecting the idea for what I'm currently working on.

Don't forget to talk about the Inter-Dimensional Quantum Hyperdrive! Fitted as standard to all my spudguns these days. Don't know what I'd do without it.

I think so, under function it says NO (pulse) i assume that means pulse of electricity, not sure if its capable of an arc,
