Help with Capacitor ignition

I am working on an electronically triggered camera flash circuit using a capacitor. I am using a triggered spark gap: [urlhttp://www.spudfiles.com/spud_wiki/index.php/Camera_flash[/url].

My problem is that I need to put a switch into the transformer trigger. It is extremely low amperage, but high voltage (240V). Is it possible to use a standard relay for this? It has a very small welding characteristic, but nothing significant.

Most switches will work, the welding the trigger cap does isn't that significant. So long as it's decently insulated it should be fine.

Would you consider a stun gun? In my opinion it gives the best bang for the buck ($15)and is extremely easy to hook up.

welding is caused by high current, almost any switch will work.

Take a look at the switch that's in there already. It's (usually) just a thin strip of metal that contacts the circuit board.

All of the camera circuits have make just have any switch firing them with all 660volts running through it.
