How does everyone get an avatar and only be a specialist?

Well, you get an avatar by going up to the top right of the page and clicking "profile" then scrolling to the bottom of that page and either finding a picture on your computer, or putting in the URL of a picture online.

And I have no idea what only be a specialist means...
