i was trying to make a drumstick (for dums, not chicken) gun for my percussion buddy, but he wants one that can easily fit in a backpack. i was wondering, if you use regular pvc couplers to make a barrel that can be broken down into 1 footish sections, is the joint smooth enough not to cause problems? because i figure a drumstick hitting sometthing inside the barrel at ~300 fps might be problematic.

on "my rather large cannon" i just used a coupler in the middle of the barrel and duct taped aluminum conduit to hold it steady. I had to dremal out the ring in the middle to make the two pipes join smoothly. use the straightest cuts for the two barrel halves..

Threaded adapters FTW!

Just make sure the transition of the barrels is smooth on the inside (chamfer the edge)
