I wouldn't call it a cannon though. Its more like an pneumatic catapult.
Looks like some sort of pneumatic ram pushing the car away.
I wonder what happens if you fire that thing without a car. Or even better, with the car in front of it.

That would be a launcher car. Not a car launcher.
For me, the xD in the topic title adds to the impression of launching cars.
