That's been public knowledge around here for about a year now... It even came up as recently as the last thread, so you must have been working hard to miss it.

... well, there's not much I can really say about the photo, other than "best of luck with the testing" and "hope they like it".

Non-lethal airbase defence? The Air Force needs its small arms too, let's not forget they were the first people to see the potential of the M16 back in 1964.

Thats really cool and impressive...but what on earth could they use that for? Paintpall wars? No offense either, but anything that airgun can do almost cetainly is done better by existing rubber bullets and bean bag rounds.

Also, to point out the obvious, the military wouldn't even have bothered to go this far unless this DID do something better.

If there is some sort of ban against not compulsively reading every word from every user then strike my ass down for missing it.

I wasn't being entirely serious, but it does seem like every second person is making points which have been dealt with before.

Now, even I don't read every post on this site (as one of my recent posts even testifies), but even if you hadn't read his last topic, my second point still stands, in that it's made it this far through the testing...

They're already used for riot control and there is anecdotal evidence towards the end of this article that they're being used for more sinister purposes too:

However, the fact that the guns discharge without smoke or muzzle/pan flash does make locating the position of someone firing such a gun much more difficult. (Modern note: Powerful, modern, silenced, 9mm PCP airguns are being used by U.S. Seals in Iraq to snipe at insurgents. Firing an M-16 at dawn or dusk could attract a lot of return fire to the flash point.)

Certainly the main subject of that article was actually used as a formidable military weapon in its time.
