sleeving pressure rating

I am planning on sleeving a 1.5" pipe inside a 2" to make a hybrid.
The 1.5" pipe is rated to 330 psi and the 2" pipe is rated to 280psi.
What do you think a safe operating pressure for this cannon would be?

I usually keep the pressure below have of the pressure rating. I need it to hold 360 psi at least but hopefully more. would you sleeve the pipe again or do you think this is sufficient?

For whatever thickness PVC coupled with shock and heat...
Just go with metal.
Even copper, aluminum, some odd piece of steel.
Sure, your PVC sleeved barrel if done right will handle 360, but why risk it especially when you mentioned "hopefully more" ???
PVC+ hybrid= not too good IMO.
Unless the inner sleeve of PVC is incased in metal.
Just my opinion.

BTW, I found a better job starting tommorrow!!!
(Now I can Eff around on SF's rest of day, instead of between online job hunt)!!!

is this for a golfball barrel? because the sch 80 has a much higher rating of 400 psi. it should hold up to a say 5x hybrid but im not an expert. just dont make the chamber pvc

I'm glad to be back. I've been out of spudding for a while. I broke my leg on the first week of summer so i haven't been able to do much.

There is a reason that i have to use pvc which shouldn't be too hard to guess

I'm not going to say much more about the cannon but i may sleeve it again and i will definitely remote fire it. how far away should i be to fire it if it does explode? my last cannon that exploded shot pvc about 80ft and left a 2" indent in my garage wall, so i might need some kind of barrier also.

Maybe it's a good thing you broke your leg.
Not to be funny, but sometimes things happen for a reason.
I had some metal pins in my foot one year (edit:'05) and it slowed me down, got me looking at online crap...etc. (searching for "spudtech")

Not that it doesn't suck to have an injury,
But trust in the Lord...I will be praying your leg heals for the best as well.

As far as the distance, behind a solid barrier is the best I can come up with.

thanks for the prayers. yeah it probably did happen for a reason. i was planning on going to buy this stuff the same week i broke my leg and there is no way that i would have taken this much time to build it properly and i might have had an even worse injury.

I will sleeve it one more time and make a barrier. i will also keep it below 3x for a while until i'm confident in it.

A bit of topic but how did you break youre leg? also i agree with thunderlords idea: go for metal.

well my Lowes and Homedepot don't sell sch80 pvc bigger than 1".
1.5" sch40 isn't a tight fit in sch40 2" so i might have to change my design a little.

I broke it playing baseball. I ran into the first baseman and i think i just landed on the side of my leg. i broke the tibia and fibula. they had to put a metal rod inside my tibia. but at least this way i don't have a cast. and i can put weight on it as soon as it doesn't hurt.

edit: I just called a small plumbing place near my house and they said that they have sch80 1.5" and 2" for $2.50 per foot, so that should be enough to handle a three times mix or more since the 1.5" is rated to 470 and the 2 " is rated to 400.
