5'' wide by 30'' high cannon to strong for 44mm ID barrel

Boom! The classic potato gun harnesses the combustion of flammable vapor.

Hi

What diameter barrel would be good with my 9 liter chamber?
When i shoot with 44mm ID barrel my lid explodes into 1000 pieces.

None, you shouldn't even be using it (with any barrel size) if it does that. The safety margins are obviously either non-existent or far too narrow to be acceptable.

You'll need to build a new chamber I'm afraid, out of much stronger materials.
Does that thing kinda look like a big cat to you?

Lik Ragnarok said, whatever you built this gun out of is not suitable.

What did you use? Pressure rated PVC, if properly glued, will handle any standard combustion scenario even if the barrel is pluged. ("standard combustion scenario"= simple fuel like methane, propane, butane, gasoline, alcohol, ... at 1 ATM pressure).

What exactly is you "lid"? A threaded cleanout plug, even if it isn't pressure rated, will survive a closed chamber combustion up to at least 4" diamter.
