Those of you who used to visit the chatroom a few months back will know that it used to have sound alerts - various noises that played when people posted a comment, entered/exited or whatever.
I think part of the reason why the chatroom, in spite of the frequently impressive number of people present in it hasn't really taken off as well as it could have is the fact that these sounds no longer play, regardless of the options prodded or poked in the settings.

Anyway, without these, people wander off (figuratively) to browse the rest of the internet, and forget about the chatroom - people can be "in there", but completely inactive for hours on end.
Would it be possible to get the sounds back? People could turn them off if they chose, but some of us might actually want them.
Does that thing kinda look like a big cat to you?

Yes a notifier that lets me know when someone has wrote something would be useful. Like in facebook when the tab blinks to get your attention

Happens a lot indeed. It would be great if the sounds came back with the following optional settings:
-No sounds
-Always play a sound on message
-Only play a sound when the window doesn't have focus

I concur i sometimes go to other sites while i am in chat only to look a couple of hours later and see people have entered and left multiple times.
A notifier would be very nice :)

I never had any problems with it when it was available. About the only issues I've ever had have been were when the option for "Make a noise if someone posts a comment" (the most useful) disappeared, and then later when none of it worked.

You were one of the lucky one's. It (for me) made the wrong sounds at the wrong times and wasn't changeable in any way for myself. I also got several PM's stating similar problems.

It's most likely not a problem with the chat. It probably has to do with connection, because when i had dial up a few years ago i would have the same thing happen with AOL messenger, but since i have broadband now i don't get those effects.
