Coxial rifle

Hey guys,

this is my latest creation:

It has a 1/4 inch barrel in a 40mm pn 12 pvc chamber. The piston is a solid teflon plug that i tuned down on a drill press and chisel (just like technician1002 did on his QDV cannon) the barrel support is just a few plywood disks glued together with flutes down the sides.

In one of the pic's you can see the teflon plug that i made to solve this issue, i didn't want to have to drill and screw it in so i used a tube clamp on the end to just slightly squeeze the end, this also allows for me to completely disassemble the cannon for servicing if needed.

I'd never trust a hose clamp for that. Treat it is armed and "could explode at any time" all the time.

Yeh i guess, i'm only running it at ~ 90 max atm (all my compressor can do) but i had to use a lot of force to get the plug in the tube in the first place and the hose clamp squeezes it quite a bit, i trust it alot.

"quite a lot of force" often isn't very good reasoning.

At 90 psi it's exerting around 159 lbs of force on that plug at any given time.

I would epoxy that plug though, as inonickname suggests it's under a lot of force and could easily turn your barrel into an uncomfortable javelin.

I dont wanna glue it in coz i wont be able to disassemble it for repairs, but i may i may do something else with it. yeh i'll take some damage pic's soon

At the very least you should pop a couple of screws into it.

yea the plug looks dangers but you can cut some wood discs and put it in front where the hose clamp is. then screws it down tight.

but still nice. get some damage pics

Well just tried the ice round ~ 5 cm long and yeppp just exploded as soon as it left the barrel

Really man epoxy it or pop some srews in your asking for throuble.Besides if it breaks then just make a new one. It would make spudfiles look bad if a "Local teen killed by spudgun barrel" news article popped up on the web. it also not a rifle btw. its a cannon.

na it's a rifle, an extremely low powered one but common 1/4 OD barrel, i ain't exzactly launching a huge shell like a full lemon

LOL ops an extra "z" soz, na if some one asks me i'll say it's a rifle because my mates cannon is tennis ball size and i wouldn't want to give the wrong idea

Lol but mate the first line of the rifle link confirms what noname is saying

thats true but for a "commoner" saying "rifle" makes things heaps simpler to explain
