You *should* be ok just with the pvc Cement and no primer as long as you make sure the surface doesn't have the very thin oil coating on it, from the factory it was made. Sanding the area you plan to glue will do this (on both sides).

If you do this you wont have very long before it's cured enough that you wont be able to move it, like 5's in my experience, so make sure you've made a line on the pipe to where you wont the bushing to end.

there is absolutly no need to sand the fittings

mock up the barrel and mark were you need the glue to be for correct position. then prime both sides heavialy, slide barrel into fitting just enough that the area needing glue that you marked eairler is just outside the fitting, apply liberal amounts of glue to the pipe (remember if you have extra you can just wipe it off, too little and you will get a week joint) then while twisting slide the barrel into correct position. thats all you need to do to get a strong joint

The trick to that is to insert the barrel from the breech and extend it out just far enough to prime and glue the barrel and then shove it back in. This avoids any damage to the valve seat. It's how I did the Mouse Musket and the Dragon. With the coupler and O ring on the valve seat there was no way to install it any other direction. There is no reason the barrel can't be installed through the chamber, pushed out another 2 inches for gluing and then pushed into place. If you do this, you can run primer into the coupling so the coupling and barrel get primer.

On a quick note, work quickly. The primer softens the surface of the PVC and it swells slightly. This can cause binding if you let it soak in the coupler too long. Prime, glue and slide together with the 1/4 turn twist. Don't delay after the primer is on.
