My shooting is confined to a garage.

The brown dart was made with heavy stock.

The dart was perfect!

The 3" nail was completely through the board and it was stopped by its head.

I found that 0.020" paper/card stock makes a good tail in one thickness.

I have no idea how far it will shoot.

3" 10d nails are available everywhere and can be used in almost all our guns at 100 psi.

That's my $0.02. (the cost of one nail)

At 100PSIG, I could shoot a paintball through 3/4" plywood, so I think it would do well in this contest with one of the sharpened A228 spring steel darts I used to make.
Beautiful cannon! Nice work.

Sorry, we have to compare shots with a 3" 10d nail.

I forgot to mention, no point sharpening allowed!

Buy nails, add anything you like to stabilize it, and shoot 20 feet using 100 psi.

Show us what that beauty can do using a virgin 10d nail..

Just for grins I took my water bottle sabot and loaded it with a nail in my 7 foot barrel and launched it from my 2 inch cannon. The head of the nail isn't quite down to the wood. The cap on the sabot is gone. The nail destroyed the sabot on launch. I'll have to try again later but with a penny or something in the cap to prevent the nail from blowing out the back of the sabot.
