solenoid valve

hey,
Im looking for a solenoid valve, all the ones i have seen online are expensive. It should be sufficient to pilot a .5" QEV (railgun injector)
12v trigger signal preferred, anything will do though.

A 24 volt AC sprinkler valve works fine on 12 volts DC. They draw more current on DC due to the DC resistance is lower than the AC impedance.

I really did not want to use a sprinkler valve due to available sizes, and its plastic (plasma back flash is likely).
Ile use it if i need to though.

what pressure do you want to use ?

well if it's for a railgun then there is no need for rapid fire so you don't need a 3 way valve but just a solenoid valve

you can buy a cheap small solenoid and a 1/8" - 1/4" QEV to pilot the main valve...

of course it's not as simple as just using one 3 way valve with enough flow... you wouldn't have to manually disconnect the air supply before firing

but you can also buy a small 3 way valve and increase it's flow with a QEV.

this one seems to be a real bargain... if you could buy it for under 20$ you'd make a very good deal... normally valves with such a large porting cost a fortune
and I hope that you realize it won't have any problems with piloting a 1/2" QEV
