Hi all,
Why not convert a inexpensive paintball marker to shoot smaller size objects?
Has this been discussed before? I couldn't locate any prior posts.

http://www.barragebarrel.com/ im sure you could change the speed. you can set the dwell times and most guns have a lower pressure regulator.

I am wondering what you would want to shoot. Using a discarding sabot would give more surface area for the pressure to act on and giving a smaller ammo more power. Maybe your not concerned with all out power but i think more info on the why of doing this is needed.
that's cheating, its against the rules of spud gun building...

this seems like a good idea... I was considering doing something similar myself but PB guns are no very popular here and because of that they are just way too expensive

You say that like it's somehow a bad thingal-xg wrote:you need to tune the pressure right down or you'll be shooting hot.

That modded paintball gun is so nice! They could make an airsoft version of it.There's your answer, thanks to django for the heads up
Edit:
Woops, its not what i have tought. Why not make a paintball airgun but with a smaller ammo loading bolt? So we could ge semi and full auto with 6mm .22 or .177

yeah I remember that gun... I am almost sure it uses a solenoid 3 way valve as the main valve and a 555timer to achieve full-auto.. even if it doesn't then I think that the same performance could be achieved in the way I described

One cruiciial mistake with that design, the ball detent is at the bottom.. this would cause the projectile to have a forward spin which would be opposite of what you would want. You would want backward spin to increase range and accuracy.jackssmirkingrevenge wrote:

We had discussed this when I first suggested the detent, still it seems to be for manufacturing conveneience in this case as it is directly opposite the hopper.Davidvaini wrote:One cruicial mistake with that design, the ball detent is at the bottom...
