What are spud bucks?

I cant seem to find any page on the site that explains it... do they have a point? can you spend them?

spud bucks are just a little thing on this site, once you build them up you can buy things from the "spud store" (not real physical items of course)

You use them to buy privleges like having an avatar, click on the plus sign at the top of the screen to use them. It says other. I had the same question when I was new to spudfiles.

I can't believe info about them isn't in the FAQ, I thought it was all there along with the whole "cannon submission" thing. Doah! (must have been like that for years!)
