Idea for a shotgun/grenade shell

seems like it would work, but it might not work as well as you want. might want to search around for davidvaini's preloaded burst disk cartridges, those work pretty well, they dont work the same way as an airsoft grenade, but they still work pretty well

So is this meant to be fired like a madbull airsoft "grenade"?
Either way, you will most likely have trouble with the sliding seal, i think tech would be the most informed on that after his QDV projects.
And lastly, just use some 5/16" brakeline instead of those crappy pen tubes.

ive looked at burst disc and i need a shell that i could carry around and the burst disc only allow you to fire once they have been attached to an air pressure source.What concerns do you have about not working effectively? i would be happy if the airsoft bbs went 300fps.seems like it would work, but it might not work as well as you want. might want to search around for davidvaini's preloaded burst disk cartridges, those work pretty well, they dont work the same way as an airsoft grenade, but they still work pretty well

well, what i meant by not working as well as you want, is that unless you are using fairly high pressures (or playing CQB) its not going to go very far. that being said, the normal production ones don't either. LnL said use 5/16" breakline, id actually recommend 1/4"
another option you could use is to build a breachloader combustion (in particular, i use a sureshot 520) and use shells. take a piece of pipe the same size as your barrel, glue a slip fit coupler to it, load it up with whatever, and blast away. even though its a lot less portable, it is pretty intimidating, charging someone with a cannon longer that they are tall.

should i contact him? i will be using the shotgun in CQB so i dont need any range just a good strong close corder shot. What are you reasoning for a 1/4 break line? I like the idea of charging into a battle with a huge cannon but i need this to be very portable almost a side arm but thanks for the insite

if your making a cqb gun i suggest you make a bbmg with a not-so-tight bore-barrel. i made one a while ago, and it got 80~100 RPS at about 250-300 fps. not to mention that it hit the entire hallway at the place that i played. i also have madbull-style grenades. i like the bbmg better for several reasons
1 its my primary, no need to switch to something else to make a wall of bbs
2 it hits the entire hallway because i have a slightly over sized barrel (1/4", the bbs are .236")
3 its MUCH faster to reload
4 ive got about 2000 rounds before reloading, as opposed to a grenade with one
5 its REALLY quiet, makes a humming and clicking sound as opposed to a loud popping sound
there are a lot of things on here about making bbmgs, give it a search.

ive looked at bbmgs alot i even had some designs for a vortex block but i ran into a wall when i realized i needed an air compressor or a cO2 tank connected to it. I didnt have any way of connecting the c02 tank to the bbmg and i didnt want to carry around an aircompressor

I have little experience with airsoft so perhaps you desire this effect, but the design you posted will only hit people directly above/infront of it(if I only knew how this is applied...) and a few feet to either side, it will not scatter a lot.
Also the bbs will fall out if you trip and drop it or turn it upside down.
As for using it several times, I am not sure how long it would take you to put one bb into each pipe(depending on the number) while avoiding enemy fire...

@ John: it just works like a giant shotgun shell, designed for a one-use-per-game room-clear usually placed in some kind of under barrel launcher
well, as for connecting a C02 tank to your bbmg, there is really one good option, the one that almost everyone uses. one side of your trigger valve will be on the vortex block side obviously, and the other side will either have a male quick connect or a little bit of pressure hose and then a male quick connect. either way, you would have C02 tank/regulator setup, usually on your back, and a length of pressure rated hose with a female quick connect. this is also useful, because since you don't really have a "safety" on a bbmg, it works as a safety while in the staging room, etc.

is there a walkthrough of how to connect a co2 tank to the vortex block or should i not even use a vortex block and just make a cloud. I have a regulator but i dont know how to connect it to the tank
I would use a vortex. Using CO2 is easy:
CO2 Tank => CO2 Regulator => remote line => male Quick connect =>trigger valve => BBMG.
If you wanted more flow, pressure, and power, but more gas consumptin:
CO2 Tank => remote line => male Quick connect => CO2 Regulator =>trigger valve => BBMG.
That may or may not work, depending on the ID of the remote line and the flow of your valve.

where can i get a Co2 regulator not offline? I know they have one at lowes for 80bucks (i think it come in a kit) but i dont know if you can put any kind of Co2 tank in it
They will fit pretty any reasonably sized CO2 tank that is designed for paintball markers (8oz to 24oz). Regulators can be purchased off ebay for less, and allow higher output pressures. Palmer Pursuit (Google it) is known for their regulators, starting at IIRC $70. They can go up to 850 psi out.
