Ok, for my spud gun I decided to use a 2.5" barrel for tennis balls. However, I was unable to find any store that sold it. So, I decided to use 2.5" pvc electrical conduit from Lowe's. I was able to find fittings for it and primed it successfully to a 4" pressure rated chamber. But is it safe to use pvc conduit? Will it like shatter or anything? Also, because it's conduit the actual inside diameter is smaller than 2.5", creating an extremely tight and LOUD fit. Is there any way of like boring out the barrel a bit to make it looser? Ok, thnkx :D 8)

It should be safe if its SCH 40..Im using 1.5'' SCH 40 conduit as a barrel on my cannon and it seems fine.

Is this for a combustion or a pneumatic.

If its for a combustion it should be safe enough, its what I'm using.

For a pneumatic though, I wouldn't trust it.

try drilling some 1/8 or 1/4 inch holes at the end of the barrel to lessen the noise, it works kinda like a silencer it slowly lowers the pressure

irwinner, when putting in the holes, should i put a whole bunch of them close together or spread apart? and about how far down the barrel from the end should they go to reduce the noise as much as possible?

also, about by how much is the noise reduced? will it just sound like a loud "puff" rather than a loud BOOM?

sorry for all of the question

You would space them like 4 holes per side like on a paintball gun. It would reduce noise by a little but will still have a loud bang like most guns. PVC as said will be fine to use, I made my entire gun from ABS which in someways is similar. As for the holes do something like a set of 4 on left and right side then top and bottom near the end of the barrel (end thats open). IF you think 4 is too much just use 3 up to you.

If you want to take the time to make a silencer i think i saw one in boogies site it was http://www.advancedspuds.com and it wasent very complicated but it would take time to make it, in my opinion not worth it.
