Need new floor pump

Well, my bike pump broke yesterday, so I'm looking for a new one. I would love to take this as an opportunity to get one capable of high pressures. Anyone have a suggestion of a floor pump capable of at least 250 psi that is under 100 dollars?

Thanks, I did prior research on the topeak and found it had some issues, but the serfas FMP-500 looks great. It has fabulous reviews too.

If you really want to be cheap, you could build one from home depot pars for well under those prices. And it would be capable of 300 psi if you build it from Gippetos plans.

I agree with CG, go ahead and build one. For the same price you can make one that can achieve twice the pressure.

You're missing the point though. Twice the pressure, half the volume, still gives you the option of higher pressures, 500 psi+. I agreed with CG's suggestion because he can achieve higher pressure with a homemade stirrup pump.

But if he decides to build one he can build a slightly thicker pump that gippetos and achieve those pressures.

moving up to 1" copper would probable be about as expensive as the pumps linked. BTW what kind of pressures could a pump housed in 1" copper pipe reach?

It depends on how much you weigh. If you weigh 100 pounds then it can do roughly 314 psi, and if you weigh 200 pounds then it can do over 600 psi. I would guess you weight about 150 pounds so probably an absolute max of 450 psi.

Well there are several other choices, personally I'm a fan of the steel ema conduit pipe.

Thanks guys, I decided to order the serfas pump, I only need to be able to reach 250 with that one. For the higher pressures, I have a fridge pump in the making.

if I ever make one I will use sch 80 1" PVC and galvanized fittings. If thouse parts and a check valve are available at your hardware store beaver rat, then you could make a pump for < 50$
