I bought these valves from ebay. 21$ a piece. My plan was to use one in a piston hybrid but I don't think it can be done. What do you guys think?
Im sure I can use one on a high pressure pneumatic. What does 800 W.O.G. translate to in psi? I would have to weld up the massive hole in the side of the piston, and drill and tap the end cap for 1/4 npt for a trigger valve. Probably remove the spring and put in a bumper for the piston?

Or did I just waste my money?

Nothing......WOG means "Water-Oil-Gas". Your valve is rated at 800psi

what's the point of
welding up the massive hole in the side of the piston
?
and drill and tap the end cap for 1/4 npt
Check the threads first - they might be BSP/NPT...
just use a bushing

It seems to me, for a pneumatic launcher, I would first need to drill and tap the end cap in order to put a trigger valve that would allow the piston to drop. Letting the air pass from the chamber to the barrel.
However, if the hole in the side of the piston is too large, the air will pass straight thru the piston and out the trigger valve rather than pushing the piston down. Correct me if im wrong, but I think Im right.

Use a bushing? For what?

the cap is threaded, right?
If it has bsp/npt threads then you can screw in a bushing where the cap was

result? no need to drill the cap and then tap the hole

The cap is the cylinder for the piston. Hard to tell from the picture.

I get the idea.
Well, it's down to whether you want to use the piston it already has or whether you want to get a new one....

I know that water taps look almost exactly the same and they can be modded easily... I am sure you can find them in large diam too. I use one of the fittings from a 1.75 valve (as it goes down directly from 1.75 to 1/2"... )
