with a piston valve you need a pilot valve. I assume you've got a lot of pilot valves rated to 150bar

The point is that for a 0.177" cloud, a 1/4"-1/2" ball valve alone is more than enough, especially if you're using a detent.

Technically we're both right, but it depends on the level of complexity you're willing to live with - and I think by now we've established on which side of the fence we both sit

yeah, but somehow I didn't even think of adding a detent to the design... That makes everything a lot easier
so, if opening speed isn't crucial then a BV or pressure washer handle is probably the best idea

Basically a tight o-ring or seal at the breech that stops the BB, only releasing it when enough pressure builds up behind it, like I did here with a high pressure cloud

do you really mean 150 bar, or 150 psi. cause 150 bar is over 2100 psi. if you really are making it that high pressure, it must be pretty powerful tho

Clearly he does, 150 psi is not really "high" pressure - you can make a reasonably powerful BBMG running at 10 bar, but ramp things up past 30 bar and you'll see the difference.
