I'm about to order one of these, but before I did, I just wanted to ask a few questions.
How well do the golf balls fit? Would I need wadding?
Does the breech loading cause any notable decrease in power, or is the cover sufficiently air tight?

If the pipe is SDR21, then the I.D. is 1.700" and golf balls are generally 1.68" in diameter. This leaves only .020" as a remainder (or a mere .010" all the way around)... Absolute perfect fit for golf balls!
The SDR21 can be used as a sleeve in 2" SCH80 PVC, but it is pretty difficult to sleeve pipe lengths over 3 feet.
The breech designs, with the 2" SCH80 sleeve, usually have machined grooves in the sleeve, which has fixed o-rings. I've never used one, but have heard that they work quite well.
