Stun Gun

Boom! The classic potato gun harnesses the combustion of flammable vapor.

Hey-o. I bought a stun gun the other day and the clerk would only sell me one that was charged (basically plug in the wall). How should I dismantle it without shocking myself? Also, how well do stun guns work at handling high pressure chambers, such as in a hybrid?

1) Push the button in 5 second intervals until the battery is dead. Holding it in the open so you don't stun anyone. Allow it to cool down in between every oh, I don't know 3 or 4 firings so you don't burn it up.

2) If it doesn't have screws you have to pop it apart at the seem with a straight blade screw driver.

3) Are you placing the stun gun it's self in the chamber?

Yeah, I guessed that much.

What I'll probably do is keep the stungun close to the chamber and connect to the inside with wire / electrodes leading to the a spark strip, (made with PCB? maybe an insulated coathanger) and have a long range switch for the actual stun gun. But of course the stun gun won't go inside the chamber.

One that plugs into a wall? I don't think I am familiar with those. With the battery operated ones you just take out the momentary switch you hold when you want it to "shock."I would suggest sealing off the hole with something, if you have some extra plastic, superglue it on there. Run two wires to wherever your hand grip is, solder them to a momentary switch, and that is your trigger. Solder on two heavily insulated wires to the two outside "shock" prongs. Those two wires can go onto your bolts to your spark gap. It wouldn't hurt to put some hot glue or silicone on it to make sure you don't get an unwanted jolt.

If you don't press the trigger button on it you won't get shocked, the battery is less than 12 volts.

If you have to open it with brute force heat it to 40~45C, that softens any glue making it easier to open.

It'll ignite high mix hybrids, MrCrowley's piston hybrid uses a stun gun.

Don't be concerned about getting shocked, wearing cleaning gloves will stop most shocks.

From the description it's a rechargeable stungun or it's for indoor use near a convenient socket... Can't think of any other use besides torture for that mind you.

Either way if it can spark when not plugged in it is a stungun with a battery.

Detach battery if possible.

Open the case however you can. Don't involve sticking fingers inside blind.

Detach battery if still attached, cut wires, whatever, note polarity for later.

Make sure the capacitor(s) are discharged by shorting them out with a wire, screwdriver tip or similar.

Can now fiddle as needed.

We could give you a lot better advice if you included a picture/model number so we could have something to go off of. I would hate for you to mess it up with some general information that doesn't even pertain to what you have.
