Before all this horrid talk of regulating HPA, ultimately what is the performance you wantto achieve in terms of launcher power, calibre, rate of fire and dimensions?

Ummm, did you read my beginning post.
This is for an airsoft I am building, and it shoots 6mm plastic bb's, and I am going to have the fps adjustable from like 00fps for long distance to 200fps or so for very short range. It will also be semi auto.
And what is so horrid about hpa?
By the way, What be you thinking?
It seems to me that you have some thoughts here. Am I right?

Missed thatUmmm, did you read my beginning post

HPA is great, but you want to reg it down, that makes JSR sadAnd what is so horrid about hpa?

But seriously, for airsoft using a QEV and a slide valve, it makes perfect sense to take it down to 100 psi, with a longish barrel it won't take a lot of air per shot for the performance you're after.
Another option if you want to cut out the reg is to have a hammer valve operating directly from the HPA tank, which will let you adjust power by adjusting hammer strength.

with a simple DCV+QEV+Air Cylinder setup, and a 3/8" by 3" chamber running on un-regged propane, I've been shooting through the bottom of soda cans which is <400fps. It has pretty consistent accuracy, and even though its hard to believe, it has been cold here in Texas, so the pressure is fairly low.
Whoa, thats pretty amazing. Do you know what the pressure of the propane is?Lockednloaded wrote:with a simple DCV+QEV+Air Cylinder setup, and a 3/8" by 3" chamber running on un-regged propane, I've been shooting through the bottom of soda cans which is <400fps. And what what kind of valve is a DCV?
JSR, Yeah it would be possible to do like a mechanical paintball gun style valve for unregged hpa, but I wanted to keep this gun super simple.
Also I figuered I can get about 450 shots from a 30 fluid oz tank (20oz c02 tank) @ 1000psi regged down to 100 psi.
Why does having to regulate hpa make you sad?

Its a 1/8" 3-way DCV off of mcmaster-carr (6464K12) with a 1/4" x 1/4" x 1/8" QEV. I have no idea what pressure the propane is at, but i get similar results with my compressore set around 100 psi

A different name for the same thingBigBang J wrote:And what what kind of valve is a DCV?
Because feeding HPA directly lets you cause this sort of damage even with airsoft projectilesBigBang J wrote:Why does having to regulate hpa make you sad?

Ha, yeah, just slightly over the topjackssmirkingrevenge wrote:A different name for the same thingBigBang J wrote:And what what kind of valve is a DCV?
