Chamber placement.

If I were to use a M1A1 Stock and build my airgun in it, where should I place the chamber for optimum performance? I will attempt a bolt action reloading mechanism, but I would like to know where I should place my air tank. Should it go in the stock, or just in front of the trigger?

The best looking and well performing design is a coax but you can't do a breech load if you do a coax because the barrel is inside the chamber. There is also the over/under design like this one:

Ok. Hmm, I am trying to think of a way to do a coax without it looking weird on a rifle stock.... If its too bulky it will look awkward and I want it to be clean and flush with the rifle. I may try that over under design though....

If you do it right a coax could look good in a rifle http://www.libertycans.net/mjolnir.html

I've heard about breech loading in a coax, it only works with round projectiles and would be quite an exercise.

Thanks Zeus, I will definatly TRY to make one but I may need some help. If you guys can give me some tips on what to get and use, I will definatly take them. When I get the stock I will upload a picture and give you specifications.

You can combine a coaxial chamber with an external valve in the manner of a klein bottle.

That way you have the neat single tube extending out but also the freedom to have any kind of breech loading system at the back.

But yes it's the same thing.

You can put the valve in any part of the returning loop where chamber becomes barrel.

Hmm, I was thinking a 2 inch chamber (coax I guess...) with either a 1 inch barrel with a tip on the end for interchangeable barrels, or a 1/2 inch barrel for stuff like AA batterys and stuff.... Not fully sure... I will also think of a way to make a breech loading system, but that will come with a V2 prototype... I just need one successful gun under my belt before I start getting advanced....

was bored and thought of this dont know how practical it is or if it has any advantages over just a under and over design but here it is

It obviously takes up less space since you're using the chamber around the barrel, but I don't think its really worth the effort
