Which makes more noise? A solenoid on a sprinkler valve, or a sprinkler valve with the solenoid holes filled?

Isn't the noise a factor of how much air is left and at which compression factor after the projectile left the barrel (except faster than sound oeuf-corse).

I'm confused :?

Blowgun, but some how the solenoid that came with the sprinkler valve is making an airhorn type noise...

that's because its not piloting fast enough. Try switching to a ball valve or modifying the blowgun to dump air faster, and the honking will go away

I would vote for solenoid valve feeding a locomotive horn, but that wasn't an option. :D

JDP, I want noise. Like, ALOT. And Tech, I like that idea, just that train horns in my neighborhood might not go down too well....

You will get zero noise with a diaphragm valve or a solenoid :wink:
If you want noise, make a big pneumatic piston valve or a combustion.

If its honking right now, its not efficient. If you want noise, build a cannon with a big piston valve, and a short barrel. if you want LOTS of noise, check out Starman's series of noisemaker cannons.

Basically a combustion with a burst disc, and no barrel. Extremely loud.

by doing what I described in my earlier post. change to a quicker venting pilot valve.. that will eliminate the honking and make it fire more efficiently.

For real fun, use train horns on a small island. No trains.. :D

@ Warhead, add a trumpet shaped barrel for better effeciency at making sound.
